Wall Crawlers represent at the UH comp.

The Wall Crawlers represented on their home turf here at the University of Houston on Feb. 2, 2013.  The competition was a great success and the Wall Crawlers had a strong showing by making the podium in several categories.

Our advanced team made a proper showing in both gender categories:

Rami Najjar scored second place male advanced and second in male CCS points.

Celine Boulenger scored third in female advanced and third in female CCS points.

The rest of the team did incredible as well.  This is the strongest showing of Wall Crawlers at a CCS competition, ever!

Steven Cox won third male intermediate, Robby Gibler won second in a heart breaking plank-off tie breaker for first.

Although the other team members did not make podium it was a good, strong way to start the season and I am looking forward to hearing about success at Texas Tech on Feb. 16, 2013.

If you are not going to Tech be sure to wish the team good luck before they go!

SFA climbing competition dominance

Yes it is true, the UH Wall Crawlers have dominated their first climbing competition as a team.  The “pre-season” SFA competition gave a good indicator of what is to come in the 2013 CCS climbing season.

Many wall crawlers attended to get a feel for the collegiate climbing competition format.

Richelle Hepler began where she left off last season by winning first place in the female advanced category.  The recent recruitment of Rami Najjar to the team proved beneficial as he won the first place male advanced category.  Celine Boulenger also won first place in the female intermediate category.

Way to go for all of the other club members who came and represented but did not make the podium.  During the CCS season this type of participation will help our chances of winning the coveted regional team championship.  Remember last year we came in third and only had three members in CCS.

Stay healthy wall crawlers.

Outdoor climbing trip coming up

Come and climb at Enchanted Rock for the weekend of November 2nd – 4th.  Let’s hang out in the hill country and I’ll teach you as much as I can about the park and climbing in one weekend.  I am going regardless because the campsites have been purchased.  Let me know if you are interested.  It’s $100 for an all inclusive weekend.
